Silly Boys Trucks are for Girls!!!!!

Nov. 23, 2009

As the stars shone brightly on the Lucas Oil Speedway on a beautiful September evening, Jessica Jacks headed to the starting line knowing she had a perfect number, a powerful truck, and one shot at taking home her first ever Lucas Oil Pro Pulling League Champions Tour Crown. As Jess bent the throttle over and felt her Sassy Racing engine respond, she knew she had a great pass going. All she had to do was hold on. She parked her truck in 2nd position, drove off the track and immediately ran back toward her dad and Pair of Jacks supporters. She pealed her helmet off, looked at her father and jumped into his arms as she knew she had just captured the crown that had alluded her team for the last few years. After a tearful embrace with her father, a parade of fans and competitors each took their turn at congratulating the little giant among the Super Modified Two Wheel Drive Class.

Year after year the Sassy powered Cen-pe-co Pair of Jacks has found itself in the mix of the Lucas Oil Pro Pulling League Champions Tour, collecting one of the highest wins totals since the inception of Pro Pulling League. The young lady that sits behind all of the power has become a big name on the nationally renown Champions Tour and now stands among men as a 2009 champion. In 2009, the Dodge Dakota from Fishers, Indiana made a hard charge in the last few weeks of the season to guide Jessica to her first ever Champions Tour Championship. By winning Jessica becomes the youngest competitor to carry the name of Pro Pulling League Champion.

After a 2008 Midwest Regional Championship, Jessica had her first taste of standing strong on top of the points chase, that victory only left her wanting more. In 2009, a third truck was added to the already potently strong Pair of Jacks Pulling team. With the Wild One Chevy Colorado came a learning curve, but also a third opportunity to learn about each of the coveted pulling tracks on the circuit. The help that Chris Smith's presence brought to the team not only added to the outcome of the season, but also helped to promote the team to the business world with the addition of sponsors like Mothers Polishes and Sparkplugs.com.

As the points race began to tighten up, five or six trucks could have thrown their name in the hat for the championship. “ When the points race began to tighten up near the end of the season, my level of excitement continued to grow. It was nerve racking but also so much fun to know that each place was going to matter” stated Jacks moments after giving her championship acceptance speech. In the crunch time of a game, big players want the ball in their hands, it became evident Jacks wanted the throttle in hers as she rolled off a string of top tens to close the season.

Over the summer tour Jessica collected two wins, the first coming at the Elkhart County Fair in Goshen, Indiana and the second at the Show Me Show Down in Macon, Missouri. When asked what her winning formula consisted of Jacks stated, “ Consistency is always the secret to the points race, it was my goal to keep my finishes in the upper half of the class.” In a season that was marred by rain that canceled four events, it was imperative to embrace every opportunity that presented itself. Jessica did that claiming five top five's, as well as eight top ten finishes over the course of the grueling season, to claim the win by eight points. It also should be known that the Super Modified Two Wheel Drive class had an average of more then 22 trucks, which only added to the intensity of trying to finish above the top ten line.

Another key moment in the Cen-Pe-Co Pair of Jacks pursuit of a title occurred when Jessica got an opportunity to showcase her talents on the grand stage near her hometown of Fishers, Indiana when the Pro Pulling League rolled into Indianapolis for the Indy Super Pull. “I was so nervous to compete at home in front of my friends and family that I did not really take in the whole moment. It was fun and exciting to know when I went down the track that a lot of people in the crowd were there to support me” stated Jacks. The hometown crowd should have been pleased with the young lady as Jessica finished up seventh and eighth over the weekend.

Jessica would like to thank her father Steve for granting her the opportunity to go out each day and participate in something she loves so very much. Chris Smith “Smitty” for all of his support and hard work over the season. Her title sponsor Cen-Pe-Co Lubricants for their incredible support over the years, as well as Mothers Polishes and Sparkplugs.com. The love and support of her friends and family is what fuels her to stay embedded in the sport of pulling. Finally, Jessica is grateful for such an awesome league to compete in and wants to thanks all of the Team Lucas sponsors from continually supporting the class.

Jessica Jacks has grown on the fans of the sport of truck and tractor pulling after starting at the ripe old age of fourteen. Each year her driving ability has increased and her level of comfort in front of the fans has grown. In 2010, Jessica understands that from the onset of the season she will be carrying a gigantic target on her back, one that a large class of competitors will be aiming for. Her goals for 2010 include graduating from Aveda Institute with her cosmetology license and a defense of her championship. Over the years Jessica has made one thing clear and it has stood out quite well in 2009 and that is “Silly Boys Trucks are for Girls!”
