Points Race Ignites for Multiple Classes as PPL Exits Rudy's Spring Opener

CHARLESTOWN, Indiana (April 29th, 2019) - Two big sessions of pulling action this past weekend in Julian, North Carolina at the Piedmont Dragway for the Rudy's Diesel Spring Opener kicked off the Lucas Oil Pro Pulling League season.  Multiple classes have points races that have become intense in this early stage, reminding pullers to make every hook count.

The ARP Super Stock Diesel Truck division has a clear leader heading into their next event on May 31st - June 1st with the Ohio State Benefit Pull in Fort Recovery, Ohio. Kent Crowder, finishing second in last year's points race, swept both sessions at Rudy's in the Scheid Diesel Dodge.

The Super Farm Tractor class offered a closer battle where Josh Miley and the High Maintenan$e CaseIH emerged with a scant two-point lead over Chuck Guenterberg (Positive Ground IH) and Dan Viney (Crank it Up IH). The Friday night winner of the class was Jason Viney and the All Cranked Up CaseIH while Michael Snepp and the Perfect Storm John Deere nabbed the win on Saturday night. Super Farm returns to action June 21st and 22nd for the Watson Diesel Michigan Nationals in Marshall, Michigan.

Coming off a banner season in Pro Modified Four Wheel Drive Truck, David Mills and the War Wagon Dodge picked up where they left off in 2018 with a win and a second place finish on the weekend at Rudy's. Terry Hagedorn and the Gunpowder and Lead Chevy took the other win on the weekend. Pro Mods return to competition on June 14th and 15th at the Mackville Nationals in Mackville, Wisconsin.

Representing the Silver Series at Rudy's was the Pro Stock Diesel Truck class. Keith Witt's Cross Wire Dodge is the points leader departing Rudy's with second and third place finishes as his claim to the top. Norman Newswanger's piloting the Chapter Eleven Ford was the Friday night winner and Greg Strandlie and the Outta Hand Chevy were victors in Saturday's action. Pro Stock Trucks are scheduled to return to competition on June 21st and 22nd for the Watson Diesel Michigan Nationals in Marshall, Michigan.

Wrapping up the weekend coverage is the FASS Limited Pro Diesel Truck class, with entrants running for Ag Protect 1 Midwest Region points. Chad Perkins and the Perkins Diesel Chevrolet sit atop the leader board with a pair of wins at the Piedmont Dragway, with Adam White and the Six Shooter Dodge just 10 points behind. The next outing for this outstanding class is Watson Diesel Michigan Nationals in Marshall, Michigan on June 21st and 22nd.
