MAC Trailer Pro Stock Tractor Championship is Team Effort for Mastersons

Charlestown, IN (November 18th, 2020) – Five sessions of pulling action decided the 2020 MAC Trailer Pro Stock Tractor Championship and like many of the Lucas Oil Pro Pulling League Champions Tour classes it came down to the final hook of the season.

The season kicked off at the Rumble by the Refuge in Mound City, Missouri for the first two sessions of competition where Peter Norton and the Money on Black Deere took the opening lead with a first and a third for the weekend. Close behind was Kevin Masterson on the Tinker Toy Deere, driving on behalf of his father Don who was injured in a farming accident prior to the season. Masterson also had his own River Rat Deere in contention at that point with a win in the second session of Mound City.

The class didn’t pull again until late August at the Scheid Diesel Extravaganza with another doubleheader. Norton and the Masterson team, this time with Darryl Folz at the wheel of the Tinker Toy, kept the battle close with Folz nabbing a pair of second place finishes and Norton getting another win and second place points in a class full of non-points participants. Norton and the Money on Black left SDX with a slim four-point lead on the Tinker Toy machine, setting up a final battle at the Lucas Oil Pro Pulling Nationals at the Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri.

With only seven tractors in the class at Wheatland, the final positions would be critical to decide the points champion. Norton would take the early lead in the class, but Kevin Masterson on the Tinker Toy drove past Norton on the following hook. Both competitors had to wait for the final four tractors to see where they would land. Defending class champ Jack Maize and the Billet Binder IH would finish second and Rob Russell on the Work Horse Pro captured third. The final tally saw The Tinker Toy two points ahead for the Championship versus Norton, with Kevin in third on the River Rat to end the season. Tim Stone and the Rollin’ Stone Deere finished fourth in points and Russ Yoder completed the top five for the season on the Xtra Butter Minneapolis-Moline. Interestingly, all of the top five points finishers hail from the state of Indiana.

This is the second championship for the Masterson team with the Tinker Toy, with Don capturing the title in 2018. Congratulations to the Masterson Pulling Team on your 2020 MAC Trailer Pro Stock Tractor Championship!
