Boyd, Nichols Shine Bright at GALOT Mule City 300

Charlestown, IN (May 24th, 2021) – A much-anticipated weekend of truck and tractor pulling proved to be a memorable one with the inaugural GALOT Mule City 300 at GALOT Motorsports Park in Benson, North Carolina. As one of the premier motorsports venues in the nation, it was a fitting spot for six exceptional classes from the Champions Tour, Silver Series, and East Coast Pro Pulling member-state to debut for 2021.

The first session at GALOT Motorsports Park has 109 entries across the six classes, making for a full night of competition. Richard Love’s Decision Maker sleds were on hand to provide the all-important “whoa!” for the extreme amount of horsepower that would be applied to the track for the weekend.

The evening kicked off with the Unlimited Super Stock class being tested by the General Tire Decision Maker sled. Terry Blackbourn was the winner on the evening piloting the Team Chizek Extremely Armed and Dangerous CaseIH entry on the last hook of a class of fifteen.

Big River Steel Super Modified Tractors sought the challenge of the MAVTV Decision Maker in the first session in the evening’s biggest display of power and noise. Austin Boyd wheeled the Lucas Oil Green Streak Limited to the top spot on an exceptional pass that was a late draw.

The Super/Pro Stock Tractor class of the East Coast Pro Pulling League member-state was a battle of classes and fuels on the MAVTV Decision Maker. Making the trek from Iowa was Brandon Simon with one of the newest entries to the Simon Sez Motorsports team, the Loud and Heavy John Deere Pro Stock that Brandon guided to the win in a field of nine.

Closing out the evening was the newest class to the Lucas Oil Pro Pulling League Silver Series, the Light Pro Stock Tractor division. Twenty-seven tractors answered the call on the MAVTV Decision Maker with Jeff Mikloiches’ pass halfway through the class on his Demented CaseIH taking the victory.

The second session promised the same level of intensity and competition as the first, but breakage kept a handful of competitors away for the Saturday night finale. A great crowd was on hand for that second session ready to see the excitement unfold on the track.

First out the gate was the Super/Pro Stock class, with an East Coast Pro Pulling regular taking the win. Cory Hoyt and the impressive Stress Case old school Case machine was the winner over 8 other entries on a hook halfway through the class, again tested by the General Tire Decision Maker.

Austin Boyd was ready for battle again in the second session in the Big River Steel Super Modified Tractor class and roared to the win on this occasion aboard the Lucas Oil Green Streak machine. Boyd took the momentum of the Mod win to score a win on the Lucas Oil Green Streak – Black mini in Summit Racing Mini Rod action—taking three wins for the weekend back home to Washington, Indiana.

Like Boyd, Russ Nichols also found himself as a repeat winner in the ultra-competitive Optima Batteries Super Modified Two Wheel Drive Truck class. After capturing his first-ever win on the Champions Tour, Nichols would back that up with a sweep of the class with the second session victory.

Unlimited Super Stocks returned with a full contingent of warriors ready to do battle with one another -- and another battle brewing within the class. The duel of the fuels, pitting alcohol versus diesel competitors had long been dormant until the last hook of 2019 where Colin Ross and his diesel Triple Bypass McCormick took a win in the alcohol-heavy class at the Lucas Oil Mega Pull in Waynesburg, Pennsylvania. Ross put up a respectable fifth place finish in the first session at GALOT Motorsports Park. that was followed up with a phenomenal pass in the second session that held firmly for the win, dodging bullets from the elite of the alcohol-fueled machines.

Completing the event was the Light Pro Stock class where the winnings stayed home in North Carolina. Kendall Beasley and his sharp 66-series High Gear Harvester based out of Clayton, North Carolina outlasted twenty other pullers for the win on the tenth hook in the class.
