Charlestown, IN (October 30, 2020) – The Unlimited Super Stock Tractor class in the Lucas Oil Pro Pulling League had an abbreviated battle for the points championship this season like all of the Champions Tour classes, leading to a valiant battle for the top spot from multiple competitors. In the end Port Clinton, Ohio’s Jeff Hirt and the Runnin Bare CaseIH rose to the occasion and scored the 2020 points title.
Hirt’s run to the top was kicked off by winning the opening event for the class at the Watson Diesel Nationals in Greentown, Indiana. A third and a sixth at the 300 Raceway Farley Nationals tightened up the points race considerably with Bob Gansemer and the Ruttin’ Deere just two points behind Hirt as they entered the final event, the Lucas Oil Pro Pulling Nationals at Wheatland, Missouri. Lurking in contention was a pair of Team Chizek machines, notably Terry Blackbourn piloting the Extremely Armed and Dangerous CaseIH and Josh Blackbourn on the Armed and Dangerous – International Threat aiming for a place on the podium in the final standings.
Hirt and Gansemer were back-to-back in the running order in that final session at Wheatland, where Hirt laid down a 293+ foot pass. Gansemer followed Hirt with a 290 foot run, securing Hirt the title for 2020. Terry Blackbourn’s second place pass on the Extremely Armed and Dangerous locked him into the third spot in points for the season and son Josh’s win at Wheatland vaulted him into the fourth position in points. Josh would end up in fifth with the Considered Armed and Dangerous-HD machine for the season. Sixteen points separated the top five positions
The 2020 title is Hirt’s fifth overall in the class, having won the title in 2010, 2011, 2014, and 2015. Congratulations Jeff on your 2020 points championship in Unlimited Super Stock Tractor!
