Charlestown, IN (August 2, 2020) – Grit, determination, and the mantra that “the show must go on” played out at the Watson Diesel Nationals at the Howard County Fairgrounds in Greentown, Indiana with a complete session of pulling on Friday night, despite a cancellation of the event for Saturday evening due to a force that many pulls cannot overcome—mother nature.
That Friday night session was the culmination of several weeks and months of effort to execute a pull for pullers and fans as well; a date move and then a venue move precipitated by the state restrictions in Michigan was finally overcome the moment the hook dropped in the first hitch at 7pm much to the delight of everyone in attendance.
Six classes with 121 total entries took their shot at the track, tested by the Bungart X-Factor and Love Decision Maker sleds. The Super Farm class led off the competition where Josh Miley and the High Maintenan$e CaseIH took a late hook to the winners circle; Limited Pro Stock Truck competition found CW Cartmell and the “Most Hated” Dodge with an early hook capturing that class win; and Matt Penn and the Penn Farms Dodge continuing their winning ways in the Pro Stock Diesel Truck Class. The night was completed with a dominant win by Jeff Hirt on the “Runnin Bare” CaseIH in the Unlimited Super Stock Tractor division; Tyler Cobb and the Georgia-based “Bandit” entry winning Pro Modified Four Wheel Drive Truck; and the ARP Super Stock Diesel Truck class going to hometown favorite Van Haisley and the “Rock Hard Ram” Dodge.
