Charlestown, IN (October 28, 2020) – “It’s anybody’s game” – a well-used cliché in many instances in sports of all forms, but in the arena of truck and tractor pulling it is the norm across many classes. The Mini Rod Tractor division is one of those divisions where a plethora of heavy hitters take residence, all capable of delivering a “knockout” pass night in, night out - asserting their dominance in pursuit of a points championship.
With an abbreviated season in 2020, competitors would have to call their shots with critically important runs; three runs would determine the champion for 2020, with two at the 300 Raceway Farley Nationals and one at the season-ending Pro Pulling Nationals at the Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri. Entering Wheatland, Zeeland, Michigan’s Bruce Slagh and the Show No Mercy machine held a slim lead over the defending champion Bobcat Jr. machine with Abbey Leischner at the wheel. Several other pullers were also within striking distance of a season-ending podium finish in the points battle. Slagh would lay down an excellent pass early in the competition and would have to wait out the remainder of the class to determine his final finishing spot. Slagh’s run would stand for third place, securing the 2020 points title while Leischner just outside of the top ten. Todd Bultman’s sixth place was good enough to vault him into the second spot in points aboard the Stress Relief machine while Leischner finished the season in third. Past champ Richard Peters and the Buckeye Special claimed fourth in the points standings while Tyler Slagh and the Have No Mercy finished with a fifth in points. A scant twenty points would separate first through fifth in the class for 2020.
The 2020 Mini Rod Tractor title is Bruce Slagh’s second in the Lucas Oil Pro Pulling League; his first came in 2016 on the Silver Series. Congratulations Bruce on your 2020 title run!
