Charlestown, IN (September 14th, 2021) – Nestled just outside of the Great Smokey Mountains, the city of Knoxville, Tennessee and the Tennessee Valley Fair played host this past weekend to the stars of the Lucas Oil Pro Pulling League. While refrains of “Rocky Top” are a familiar sound in the area, the full song of three PPL classes were heard across two sessions of competition.
The Friday, September 10th edition of the pull began with the ARP Lightweight Super Stock Tractor division as the General Tire Decision Maker sled offered up the stopping power for the weekend in all three classes. Terry Blackbourn built on his points lead with a win for the session on the Armed and Dangerous – Excessive Force CaseIH in a class of ten machines with Roy Metz on the Git R Done Deere in the second spot.
Following the Lightweight Super Stocks were eighteen stout AirDog Super Farm Tractors. Jeremy Roberts and the Wicked Whitetail John Deere emerged victorious on a late hook by a slim four-tenths of a foot over the Crank It Up IH driven by Jason Viney.
Line-X Pro Modified Four Wheel Drive Trucks rounded out the evening seventeen-strong to duel it out on the Tennessee red clay. Darrell Varner and the Stray Dog Ford found their way home into the winner’s circle with Galen Young and the Renegade Dodge close behind in second place.
Session two on Saturday September 11th led with the AirDog Super Farm division, with every one of the eighteen entries capable of taking the win. Jeremy Roberts would again roar into the top spot on the Wicked Whitetail, leaping into the top three in the points chase in the process. Jason Viney would again finish second in competition behind Roberts; however it would be on the All Cranked Up CaseIH in this instance.
After the Super Farm class, the ARP Lightweight Super Stocks hit the track, and a Blackbourn was again at the top of the class - this time Josh Blackbourn piloting the Armed and Dangerous – Deadly Force CaseIH into the top spot. Terry finished second on the evening with the Excessive Force entry in a class of 10 machines.
Line-X Pro Modified Four Wheel Drive Trucks would again round out the session with a familiar name at the top of the class. Multi-time class champion David Mills and the War Wagon Dodge delighted his hometown crowd with the class win. Galen Young and the Renegade Dodge would again claw into the second spot, spurring his effort for a 2021 class championship.
All three classes are headed into the final stages of their season with just a couple weeks of competition left. Line-X Pro Modified Four Wheel Drive Trucks have two more events with the Southern Illinois Showdown in Nashville, Illinois on tap this weekend followed by the season finale at the Pro Pulling League Nationals at the Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Missouri. ARP Lightweight Super Stock Tractors and AirDog Super Farm Tractors complete their season in Wheatland with points races still up in the air; follow us here at www.propulling.com to witness the conclusion of the 2021 pulling season in all of our classes!
