It’s Go Time in Norwalk: Summit Motorsports Transforms for Inaugural World Series of Pulling presented by Ohio CAT
Charlestown, IN (July 19, 2022) – On Sunday July 17th, Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio began a dramatic transformation from one of the premier drag strips in the world to a top-flight truck and tractor pulling facility in anticipation of the Inaugural World Series of Pulling presented by Ohio CAT on July 21-23.
The Summit Motorsports Park crew, led by SMP President Bill Bader, Jr. and Track Manager Evan Bader, have been hard at work in the process of scraping the racing surface of traction additives and the placement of a plywood base followed by the dirt for a pair of pulling tracks. Those monumental efforts culminate with six sessions of awesome pulling competition from the Lucas Oil Pro Pulling League Champions Tour starting on Thursday the 21st.
The initial five sessions will see all ten divisions of Champions Tour competitors pull twice, attempting to qualify for the Saturday night finals, where the top five finishers in the previous two qualifying sessions will duel it our for their share of the $250,000 event purse. In addition to the pulling action, fireworks, live music and other family-oriented activities will find something for every member of the family to enjoy.
Sleds set to keep the action in check include machines from the Richard Love Decision Maker stable and a pair of Bungart Motorsports X-Factor machines.
Session one on Thursday the 21st at 6:30pm EDT is headlined by Summit Racing Mini Rod Tractors, Pro Modified Four Wheel Drive Trucks, Pro Stock Tractors, Unlimited Super Stock Tractors, and Big River Steel Super Modified Tractors.
Session two, on Friday the 22nd beginning at 10am EDT, features a trio of classes including ARP Lightweight Super Stock Tractors, Optima Batteries Super Modified Two Wheel Drive Trucks, and MAC Trailer Hot Rod Semis.
Shortly after session two on Friday, session three begins at 1:30pm EDT with three great classes: Unlimited Super Stock Tractors, Pro Modified Four Wheel Drive Trucks, and Super Farm Tractors.
The huge day of pulling on Friday concludes with session four with four awesome divisions roaring down the SMP track, including ARP Super Stock Diesel Trucks, Summit Racing Mini Rod Tractors, Big River Steel Super Modified Tractors, and Pro Stock Tractors. Session four is slated for a 6:30pm EDT start. A legendary Summit Motorsports Park fireworks display is scheduled to begin at 10:30pm EDT.
Action on Saturday the 23rd begins at 12pm EDT with pullers from the Optima Batteries Super Modified Two Wheel Drive Truck, ARP Lightweight Super Stock Tractor, MAC Trailer Hot Rod Semi, ARP Super Stock Diesel Truck, and Super Farm Tractor divisions hitting the track to decide who qualifies for the session six finale in those respective classes.
The final session to crown ten class champions kicks off with the pre-race ceremony at 7pm EDT and first hook scheduled for 7:30pm EDT. Following this dramatic conclusion to a fantastic weekend of pulling action, there will be another awesome fireworks display that is a signature part of the Summit Motorsports Park experience.
