PPL Stars Unleash Diesel Power on Track at SDX 26

Charlestown, IN (August 29th, 2022) – Wagler Motorsports Park in Lyons, Indiana set the fitting stage for the 26th Edition of the Scheid Diesel Extravaganza on Friday August 26th and Saturday August 27th, 2022. Speed and power borne from the mind of Rudolf Diesel were displayed in their ultimate form through drag racing, dyno pulls, and pulling action from the Lucas Oil Pro Pulling League across both days. The pulling contingent featured stars from the Champions Tour, Ag Protect 1 Midwest Region and Silver Series.

Each day began with qualifying competition from two Ag Protect 1 Midwest Region divisions. Pullers from the Limited Pro Stock Diesel Truck class and Pro Street Diesel Truck class competed in two flights per class, with the top 10 from each Limited Pro Stock Diesel Truck flight and top 6 from each of the Pro Street Diesel Truck flights gaining a berth into the evening sessions for both days. Winners in Pro Street Diesel qualifying included Mike Peabody and the Struck by Lightning Dodge and the Hall Pass Chevy of Ronnie Hall. Jason Wayman and the Megatron Dodge and the Cummin Get It Dodge of Jordan Kinderman led the two flights of Limited Pro Stock Diesel action.

The Friday evening session saw Derrick Amos and the Recycled Hooker Dodge take the Limited Pro Stock Diesel Truck win, improving on his third place finish from the qualifying round. Pro Street Diesel Truck competition featured Damon Winland and the Ram named Trudy in the winners circle, also improving from a third place finish in his qualifying flight.

Silver Series Pro Stock Diesel Trucks turned the power and smoke up a notch with 22 entries. Cory Funk’s Funkengruven Chevy took the win on the last hook of the evening, with Ben Braunecker and the Cummin Atcha Dodge in second and Ryan Funk and the Funkenmuven Dodge in third.

Sixteen of the nation’s best Super Farms competed for Champions Tour points. Andy Schwenk took the lead three-quarters of the way through the class on the Runnin Buck Wild Deere with some serious bullets to dodge remaining, including defending class champ Josh Miley and the High Maintenan$e CaseIH set for the last hook. Miley would fall just short of Schwenk and end up in second, with Schwenk at 330.72 to Miley’s 328.09. Eddie Roe and the Redweiser IH finished third, tying his best finish for the 2022 campaign thus far.

ARP Super Stock Diesel Trucks helped close out the evening with thirteen entries. Class champ and current points leader Erik Stacey and the SmokinYa HD Chevy got his fourth win of 2022 in this session, followed by Cummins Killer Chevy of Craig Dickey in second and Chase Eller and the Caretaker Dodge in third.

Pro Stock Tractors were also part of the session finale. Kevin Masterson and the River Rat Deere continued a streak of top five finishes, capping it with the Friday night class win on the last hook. Ken Couch and the High Cotton IH finished second with Brad Moss at the wheel of the Money on Black Deere in third.

Saturday began with additional rounds of qualifying in Pro Street Diesel and Limited Pro Stock Diesel. Winners in Pro Street Diesel included Nick Zaenkert driving the High Stakes Dodge and Chris Baer in The Rowdy Ram. Hunter Smith guided the Kenny’s Pulling Parts Ford to a Limited Pro Stock Diesel Truck win, as did Adam Kron at the wheel of the Runnin Behind Dodge.

The final session on Saturday night kicked off with a win by Hank Carlton running the Dodge named Sue in Pro Street Diesel and Brian Shew and the Iron Maiden Dodge taking the Limited Pro Stock Diesel Truck win.

Hot Farm Tractors from the Ag Protect 1 Midwest Region were on hand for the Saturday finale with an impressive twenty entries. Michael Peters continued to stake his team’s claim for the class title on the Hoosier Hooker IH, scoring the win. Kevin Fleck and Written in Red IH landed in the second spot with Connor Carrington and the Endless CaseIH making it an all-red top three with his third place run.

Pro Stock Diesel Trucks returned for another session and the order was shaken up, where the Thicker N Blood Dodge of Josh Stahl was in the top spot and Ryan Funk and the Funkenmuven Dodge in second while Stoney Hargett’s Sound of Madness Dodge would land in third.

On hand for a single session were the Limited Pro Stock Diesel Tractors. Bradley Hartman and the International Addiction IH returned to championship form with the session win, followed by the 618 CaseIH of Brett Hackstadt in second and class upstart Chris Aschliman on the Diggin for a Livin CaseIH taking third.

The show again closed out with the Pro Stock Tractors and ARP Super Stock Diesel Trucks. Kevin Masterson continued his late season magic, this time taking the win on the Tinker Toy Deere in Pro Stock. John Link put together an impressive run for second at 313.84 and Brandon Simon piloted the class-leading Loud and Heavy Deere into third.

ARP Super Stocks continue to thrill with a multitude of winners this year. Van Haisley became a two-time winner for 2022 with his Saturday night win in the Rock Hard Ram while Carl Butler and the Ranch Hand Dodge took second place honors. Chase Eller stayed consistent for the weekend with another top three finish.
