Nelson Turns Up the Volume for Summit Racing Mini Rod Championship
Charlestown, IN (November 10, 2022) – Over the next few days we will take time to reflect on the 2022 points champions of the Lucas Oil Pro Pulling League in preparation for a night of celebration at the Champions Banquet, held at the Hyatt Regency in Louisville, Kentucky on Saturday, November 19th.
Much like the previously-covered Optima Batteries Super Modified Two Wheel Drive Truck division, the roster of Summit Racing Mini Rod competitors is loaded with combatants capable of taking the win - anytime, anywhere. After many seasons in the seat of a two wheel drive truck, Farley, Iowa's Jordan Nelson scored the Mini Rod championship in his first season of competition in this class and the second on the season for the Simon Sez Motorsports team, with Brandon Simon also taking accolades in the Pro Stock Tractor division.
Nelson's title path began with a season-opening win at the Mule City 300 at GALOT Motorsports Park in Benson, North Carolina with additional wins at America's Pull in Henry, Illinois and a season-ending win at the Pro Pulling Nationals at Wheatland, Missouri. Nelson would finish inside the top ten across the 12-session season that bolstered his championship run. Second place in points would go to Chase Richardson and the Vibrator from Leitchfield, Kentucky and Nelson in third piloting the second Mini in the Simon stable named Simon Sez.
