Pro Pulling League Competitors Heat Up the Weekend at the Southern Illinois Showdown
Sellersburg, IN (June 5, 2023) – The Southern Illinois Showdown, held at The Track at Holzhauers in Nashville, Illinois was a fitting stage for the beginning of the 2023 Pro Pulling Champions Tour, Hart's Diesel Silver Series, and Champion Seed Western Series. Just as the temperatures climbed to ninety degrees and beyond for two sessions on June 2nd and 3rd, the pullers from all three circuits brought the competitive heat to the twin tracks for appreciative fans.
The competition for both sessions was led off by local farm stock and hot farm competitors who turned out in big numbers to square off with the Bungart X-Factor sleds. In the Pro Pulling League program of activities there were 68 hooks on Friday night and 67 hooks in the Saturday session with a horde of pullers looking to stake an initial claim to the points lead.
In the high-flying Mini Rod class presented by SCS Gearbox and Probell Racing, former class champ Abbey Leischner and the Bobcat Jr. machine picked up the win in both sessions. Sweeping the weekend in the raucous ARP Super Stock Diesel Truck division was another former points champion taking the win, with Kent Crowder and the Scheid Diesel Dodge besting the efforts of eight other entries. The thundering Pro Stock Tractors presented by Lemke Motorsports had a pair of winners. The Friday night victory went to Jack Maize and the potent Billet Binder IH while Kevin Masterson and the River Rat Deere picked up the win in Saturday night's battle.
The 9500 Limited Pro Stock Tractors had a dual-points opportunity, with Hart's Diesel Silver Series and Champion Seed Western Series points up for grabs. The class debuted a pair of class sponsors at the Southern Illinois Showdown, with Kawasaki Parts Warehouse on board for Hart's Diesel Silver Series competition and Sancrest Trailer Sales participating in the Champion Seed Western Series. Adrian Cox and the Hickory Hooker IH - coming off a 2022 Champion Seed Western Series points title - took the Friday evening win, while Brian Scott and the Pocket Change CaseIH improved on their second place finish from Friday night to take the Saturday session win.
Rounding out the classes were the Sancrest Specialized Transport 85 Limited Pro Stock Tractors, competing on the Champion Seed Western Series. Perry Sage and the Mule Train IH was the winner in the Friday night session while Bryan Gerling and the Family Tradition IH snared the win on Saturday night.
With the pulling season now in full swing, the Pro Pulling League continues this coming weekend with competition on the Champion Seed Western Series at the Mexico Young Farmers Truck and Tractor Pull in Mexico, Missouri; more information on that event coming later this week.
