Clem, DeBroux, Schottel and Mitchell Claim Big Wins at Junction Town Showdown

Sellersburg, IN (July 3, 2023) – The stars of the Pro Pulling League were out in full-force for the Junction Town Showdown at the Clarke County Fairgrounds in Osceola, Iowa this past week, Friday June 30th and Saturday July 1st competing in four elite classes. The Junction Town Showdown also featured a massive truck show in conjunction with the pulling action.

In Friday's action, the event led off with the high-flying Northwoods Engineering Light Pro Stock Tractors in their 2023 season debut for the Champion Seed Western Series. Five tough machines were led by Ryan Mitchell on the "Hostile Environment" Deere whose mid-pack pass garnered him the win. Second would go to the "Just Another Buck" Deere and Justin Grimes, and completing the 1-2-3 sweep for the Deere contingent was Luke Ross on the "Livin' On a Prayer" Deere.

The mountain-motor Pro Modified Four Wheel Drive Trucks presented by Summit Racing Equipment would follow the Light Pro Stocks, competing for supremacy on the Champions Tour. Coming into the Junction Town Showdown Terry Hagedorn and the Kickin' Up Dust Chevy were riding a three-event win streak and looking to make it four in a row. Eleven other competitors would seek to unseat Terry from his tenure in the top spot; on this occasion, he would end up fourth. Taking the hard fought win was Steve Clem and the "Ratical" Chevy with a blast beyond 347 feet. The margin between second and third was less than four inches with Graham Young and the "Renegade" Dodge in second at 338.27 and Jim Bosch piloting the "Midnight Raider" Chevy to 337.97.

95 Limited Pro Stock Tractors were in action next, with Kawasaki Parts Warehouse (Hart's Diesel Silver Series) and Sancrest Trailer Sales (Champion Seed Western Series) points at stake. Sixteen of the best machines in the nation were in attendance for a slugfest. Rod Schottel and the "Ole Black Magic" Case took the lead midway through the class at 326.83. Two hooks later, Adrian Cox and the "Hickory Hooker" Farmall made an impressive shot at Schottel, missing the lead by six inches at 326.28. A mere seven hundredths of a foot behind Cox was Dean Holicky on the "Killin' Time" Deere, making for a thrilling finish.

Closing out the Friday session was the MAC Trailer Hot Rod Semi division. The four ground-pounding entries thrilled the truck enthusiasts in attendance with great competition. The lead hook by Lonny Sailor in the "Holy Smokes" Peterbilt produced a blistering, crowd-pleasing run flagged by top end official Jerry Nelson, indicating the need for a reset of the Iron Man sled. The first official hook was an impressive 345 foot pass by class champ Chris Wood in the "Class Act" Peterbilt. Wood's stellar run was eclipsed by former class champion Ryan DeBroux in the "Playin' with Fire" Kenworth on the next hook, who sailed to 354.61 for the class win. Wood held on to the second spot, with Spencer Rook and the "Hillbilly Deluxe" Peterbilt in third and Sailor in fourth.

For the Saturday session there was only one clear winner - Mother Nature, who brought significant rain to the Clarke County Fairgrounds, thus canceling that session.
