Nelson Victorious in Epic Super Modified TWD Truck Campaign presented by Optima Batteries
Sellersburg, IN (November 13th, 2023) – In 2023 there was a flurry of intense competition across multiple Champions Tour classes of the Pro Pulling League. Of all those battles, the clash for the championship in the Super Modified Two Wheel Drive Truck division presented by Optima Batteries had a cadre a players capable of a championship going into the final 2023 session at the Hillsboro Charity Pull in Hillsboro. Wisconsin.
While Hillsboro traditionally has two sessions of the class in action, the first session saw the class victim of a rainout, leaving the championship to be decided in the last session. Four competitors - Bethany Nelson ("Sweet Revenge" Chevrolet), Jason Sullivan ("Corn Burner" Dodge), Jared Nelson ("Midnight Revenger" Chevrolet) and Jeremy Nelson ("Midnight Gambler" Dodge) stood out with the best mathematical chance to claim the title, with twenty-eight points separating the four competitors.
Sullivan (second in points entering the session) would be the first of the four to the track and took an early lead on the second hook of the class. Jeremy Nelson (fourth in points), on the fifth hook, made a banzai pass that put him in the lead by nine feet and an outside shot at the title - with 18 more competitors - including Bethany (second from last hook) and Jared (last hook) yet to run. The tough field of competitors would build a gap between Sullivan and the Nelsons and by the time Bethany was scheduled to hook - a finish of 13th or better in the points would lock her title up, even if Jared scored the win. Bethany would follow through, claiming the 10th position in points and Jared making a valiant effort that saw him finish fourth on the night and Jeremy holding on for the win. The trio of Nelsons from the Midnight Motorsports camp - Bethany, Jeremy, and Jared - would finish 1-2-3 respectively in the final points standings with Sullivan in fourth.
The 2023 title is Bethany's third overall, having secured the championship in 2014 and 2020 as well. Join us in congratulating Bethany as she is honored for her efforts at the Pro Pulling League Champions Banquet on Saturday, November 18th in Louisville, Kentucky at the Hyatt Regency.
